Solar Mesh Node DIY Build
A DIY solar mesh node build guide has just been made available, describing how to make your own ChatterBox solar mesh node, based on the T3S3 and housed in Rak’s nice all-weather solar enclosure. You can also download a PDF of the solar mesh node doc.
ChatterBox solar nodes built using these components/instructions have successfully run 24/7 through the winter, including weeks of overcast sky, ice, extended days below freezing, an rain.
All the components to build this will probably run you somewhere around $200. However, the ability to securely communicate off-grid may be priceless in certain situations. Combined with a few Rokland T-Decks or Lilygo T-Deck Plus, you have an off-grid local encrypted backup comms system.
Of course, if you don’t want to build one, you can buy a ChatterBox mesh node from us, including this one.
