Location Screen Now Shows “Pixelized” Map
As of version 1.6.2, just released today, you can now see a visual representation of device locations on a “map”. If you choose to view another device’s location, you’ll be presented with a map, similar to the one shown below.
In this first version, the map is always oriented with North at the top. Although there is no compass in any of the devices, your “Course Over Ground” is shown, which represents the heading you are currently traveling. So, if you want to see which direction you’re facing, just take a few steps forward and your COG (heading) will be depicted as a line as shown for the “green” device.
A few points:
Zero degrees is north on this map
Your location is always centered
Bright green means your location is current. Darker means it’s “stale”
The same color scheme goes for other devices
Any line pointing away from a device indicates the direction the device is believed to be headed (or was headed last time we received location data for it)
So if I were to look for this other device “alissa”, i could just leave this map up, start walking/driving, and as long as the line is pointing toward alissa, the distance should visually close and I should run into the “alissa” device’s current or last known location.
If you’d rather see the QR code for scanning, you can touch the google maps-looking icon, and you’ll get the QR code.
From the home screen, if you touch the GPS icon, you’ll see all devices depicted on a map.
